I’ll be writing a full post on fabulous retailer Polka Dot Whale in our “Retailer” feature soon, but couldn’t resist posting these adorable photos of the owners daughter Emme rocking Crib Rock’s Lemon Crush Bo Peep ribbed tee with ruffle pantys and hot pink cowboy boots. She looks like a younger version of Matilda Ledger don’t you think? 

Based on the reaction of my fashionista tween who went gaga over these Converse xx hi lace-ups  we saw at a music video audition in Hollywood last week, this “gogo boot meets tennis shoe” hybrid is going to be a Back to School shoe slam dunk. 

I’ll admit - I love them too.  Who knows if they helped the tween queen wearing them to nail the part - but let’s just say that stylin’ these trend setters probably didn’t hurt.

In order to win the Crib Rock garment of their choice, Tot Snob asked it’s readership to ”Explain what ‘The Cat and the Fiddle‘ rhyme means.”  The responses were both numerous and humorous.  Seriously, we love the Tot Snob readers. Here are some of the more colorful excerpts:

Cheryl:  “Maybe the home of the author is a complete mess and the animals were knocking dishes and spoons and silverware all over the place…a moment of complete chaos which the author ended up finding funny later and put it into verse. Probably not, but who knows.”

Bob: “I think someone was munching magic mushrooms when they came up with that one. It makes as much sense as some of the Beatles lyrics.”

Casey: “My cat is always stealing my daughter’s toys, Im thinking that stupid cat in the nursery rhyme was messing around with someone’s fiddle and it got put somewhere… I don’t know. I’m totally making stuff up now.  These freakin shirts are too cute. I’m loving them and I cant decide which ones I like best!!”

You could probably guess that the Crib Rock Blog’s first children’s book recommendation would be a collection of nursery rhymes. What you might not expect is that we’ve chosen Arnold Lobel’s Book of Mother Goose. 

Why? Because Mr. Lobel, a highly accomplished illustrator, accompanied each poem, limerick and tongue twister with one of his classic drawings - no small feat when you’ve created a vast collection of more than 300 classic nursery rhymes.   

With the book costing a tad less than $15.00 and sure to provide many years of enjoyment and education, it rates tops with Crib Rock as a birthday and baby shower gift.  Available for purchase at Amazon.com.

Seems like this was the summer of  love for Crib Rock Couture & Decor - in the press that is.  The latest? Crib Rock’s Metal Mania Panels land in ”805 Living” magazine’s coveted back to school issue.  Check it out.

According to children’s fashion expert, Michelle Kouzmine, Crib Rock Couture is a back-to-school fashion Must Have for Fall 2008.  We’re in excellent company on the “2008-Must-Have” list with edgy brands Ed Hardy Kids (which Madonna and family favor), household name Diesel Jeans and Kingsley Tees made famous by Shiloh.  Not that we can’t drop a few names: Apple, Moses, Lola, Honor, Brody Jo, Violet, Maddox, Kimaya, Zahara.  The Crib Rock celebrity list has legs. But that’s not what gets you onto Ms. Kouzmine’s exclusive BTS list and it’s certainly not what keeps a brand there year after year.
