 December 18, 2008 (LOS ANGELES) – Road closures due to yesterday’s storms in southern Nevada and southeastern California have caused the cancellation of tonight’s opening night performance of Disney’s High School Musical: The Ice Tour at Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center.  Trucks carrying sets, props and costumes are traveling from Denver en route to Los Angeles for the start of a three-week Southland engagement. Living in a home of headbangers of both the “real” and the x-box 360 variety, it comes as no surprise to me that Activision’s Guitar Hero World Tour, (now featuring guitar, drums and mic!) is selling out across the country. 

Mike Griffith, the President and CEO of Activision Publishing calls World Tour the “must-have item this holiday season,” with launch quantities for the new console bundles selling out in the first week.  That’s good news for Activision as they’ve successfully warded off the holiday curse of 2008 that’s befallen so many national brands and retail chains. 

The good news for me, as an involuntary “listening” participant of the game, is that the music library has grown significantly and no longer appears to include Foghat’s Slow Ride which currently plays in the crib ad naseum.  And there’s even good news for those of you who haven’t picked it up yet.  Activision will be steadily replenishing the World Tour supply through the end of the holiday season.  Rock on Santa Claus! 

Thanksgiving is several weeks away but, as someone who juggles the title business owner/entrepreneur with the titles of mother and wife, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about all the wonderful people (most of them juggling the titles mom & business owner themselves) who help me on a daily, weekly or monthly basis and without whom, I would be a much less successful business owner, entrepreneur, mother, wife and woman.   So I’d like to send “a shout out” to all these important people:  Read the rest of this entry »

Throw the kids in front of the television, onto a couple of Fatboys or bean bags chairs, pop ‘The Cat in the Hat” movie into the DVD Player and at the end of the flick pull out a heaping tray of these cupcakes, overflowing with homemade butter cream frosting.
